Stockton Sand Dunes

The sand dunes of Stockton Bight are the largest mobile sand dune mass in the southern hemisphere.  They provide for a range of off-road activities including camel and horse riding, four wheel driving, quad and trail bikes, beach fishing and adventure tours.  Part of the dunes is proposed for the creation of a new National Park, Regional Park and State Conservation Area covering around 4000 hectares of Stockton Bight to be co-managed by the Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and the Stockton Bight Aboriginal Negotiating Panel (ANP) . The dune area is currently managed by Port Stephens Council and an appropriate permit is required for vehicular access to the dunes.  Information on available activities in the dune area is included on  the Port Stephens Multimedia site.
